Welcome to the website of the SamPenDu lab, Sam Schwarzkopf’s research group at the University of Auckland, New Zealand! The overarching aim of my research is to understand how we perceive the world – primarily (but not solely) in terms of vision. To this end, we use neuroimaging and psychophysical methods to study the organisation and functional properties of sensory processing in the human brain. Beyond fulfilling our basic scientific curiosity, better knowledge of how perception arises in the nervous system will advance our understanding of how the brain works in general – and thus reveal how neural processing differs in visual disorders, neurodegenerative illness, or conditions like schizophrenia.
Mental imagery survey
We are currently running a study on how people interpret the visual world and visualise things inside their minds. If you are aged 16 years or older, we’d like to invite you to take part in a short (10-15 minutes) anonymous survey. You’ll be asked to imagine some scenarios and several questions about your general visual and mental experiences. For more information go to: https://tstbl.co/793-242
